2010 Grand Prix of Mosport

Now that I’ve sat done and gone through I’d say 95% of the pics (which is like the 80/20 rule), here’s probably my favourite one so far of the Flying Lizards Motorsports down Mario Andretti straight with some trees getting in the way.

Big wreck at the feature race of the 2010 Grand Prix of Mosport

Major spin puts the #48 Orbit Racing Porsche 911 GT3 in the GTC class driven by Luke Hines into the barrier at this year’s American Le Mans.

Fortunately Luke walks away from the crash.

I managed to take a few more shots as the shutter button was held down but decided to get away from the wall as soon as possible as the front right tire became airborne (flew about 30 feet up?), lands in the middle of the track and rolls down the track and rolls right across from us, while cars swerved around the wreck at a pretty good clip.

Unfortunately the camera was setup for panning and not for fast shutter so the next few images is completely blurry.

The day before I along a few others were shooting from same spot of where the crash occurred, especially with the random debris that landed on the other side of the barrier . Yikes!

The barrier couldn’t be repaired in time and the race finished with one more lap under full caution.

Lapping Day @ Mosport

Since I totally missed the vintage race weekend at Mosport this past weekend, did manage to get a bit of shooting at Mosport the day after the race weekend. Couple of the cars that participated during the weekend were still around doing a few laps on the big track.

Of course, this had nothing to do with the past vintage races.

2009 Rally of the Tall Pines

Pat Richard wins the Rally of the Tall Pines and the Canadian Championship, with Antoine L’Estage and Nathalie Richard, who were in the lead, experienced clutch problems before the last stage today, otherwise would have won the race. Andrew Comrie-Picard takes second place and also wins the North American Rally Cup.

And with that, Subaru wins the 2009 Manufacturer’s Championship, upsetting Mitsubishi that was leading by a small margin going into this last rally of the year.

Forza 3 Launch Event

Microsoft/Audi had their Forza 3 launch event at the CNE the other day, and the CASC-OC helped out with the event by holding a small autocross, with the public having the chance to ride shotgun in various cars and even take out their own car onto the short course.

Moby @ Kool Haus

Haven’t been to a concert in over a decade (excluding the couple of free outdoor concerts in Toronto) and Moby put on an energetic show that ran for two hours. Several favourites from his “18″ album - being “We Are Made Of Stars” and “Extreme Ways” along with “Body Rock” and “Go”.

From left to right, Kelli Scarr singing Neil Young’s “Helpless”, Moby’s “We Are Made Of Stars” and Inyang Bassey in the last song, “Feeling So Real”.

“Mistake” from his latest album “Wait For Me” was also played along with an unreleased song, “Effected”.

Before anybody asks, these were taken with the girlfriend’s Canon Powershot SX100 IS.

Next up, Metallica. Yes, you read that but I’ll be watching from a lot farther away.

2009 Canadian International Air Show

Went out twice to watch the show, Saturday at Marilyn Bell Park (near the VIP section) and Monday on a sailboat near just east of the Humber Bay Park (which wasn’t quite a good idea as waves + boat + me = bad idea).
