Now living up in Markham, and close to the Cathedral of the Transfiguration just off of Woodbine, I had to take a picture tonight as the clouds were just right, though they were even better this morning and better lighting but didn’t have the time to stop and take a picture.

Cathedral of the Transfiguration

Some info I’ve been able to scrape off the web… it was designed by Stephan Roman who came to Canada from Velky Ruskov, Slovakia when he was 16. In 1984, Pope John Paul II dedicated the Slovak-Byzantine Catholic Cathedral Of The Transfiguration at its opening to the public and the church was still being constructed and as of today from what I have heard, the inside is still incomplete due to lack of funding at the time Stephan passed away in 1988.

And back then, there was nothing up here other than farm land, but the rest of urban sprawl is starting to get built around it now, so get your photos of the Cathedral before homes starts to appear in the background!
